Tariq Jameel Paracha

Tariq Jameel Paracha was a Pakistani film, television and stage producer, actor and director who started his career as a set designer at PTV in 1972. He then became a successful producer and director for PTV's Karachi centre and produced his first drama Aanch in 1982, which starred Shafi Mohammad Shah and Shugufta Ijaz and became a blockbuster hit. He also produced and directed many other popular dramas, such as Dehleez, Dhoop Kinare, Tanhaiyan and Nijaat. He also acted in several dramas, such as Dil-e-Momin, Saat Pardon Main, Piya Naam Ka Diya and Uraan. He also worked as a film producer and director and made films like Nazrana, Zindagi and Khuda Kay Liye. He received many awards for his work, including Pride of Performance, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Necip Fazil International Culture and Art Award. He died of a heart attack on 9 April 2023 in Lahore at the age of 73. He was laid to rest in his hometown.
