Ali Hassan al Majid

Ali Hassan al-Majid was a cousin and loyal henchman of Saddam Hussein who held several high-ranking positions in the Iraqi government and military. He was notorious for his role in the al-Anfal campaign against the Kurds in 1988, which involved the use of chemical weapons and mass killings. He was also responsible for the invasion and occupation of Kuwait in 1990-1991, and the suppression of the Shia uprising in 1991. He was captured by US forces in 2003 and put on trial for crimes against humanity. He was sentenced to death four times for his involvement in the Kurdish genocide, the Dujail massacre, the 1991 crackdown, and the Halabja attack. He was executed by hanging in 2010.
