About me / Bio:

Naveed Alam was a Pakistani field hockey player and coach who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics. He was born in 1973 in Sheikhupura, Punjab. He started his career as a fullback and was part of the Pakistan team that won the World Cup in Sydney in 1994. He also represented Pakistan in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He later served as the head coach of Pakistan's hockey team at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, but resigned after finishing 8th. He also coached the teams of Bangladesh and China. He was diagnosed with blood cancer in July 2021 and sought financial support from the government for treatment. He died on 13 July 2021, aged 47, after undergoing chemotherapy at Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Lahore. He was given a state funeral and buried in his hometown of Sheikhupura.
