Abdul Hamid

Abdul Hamid, or more popularly known by the name of his puppet character Pak Ogah, was an Indonesian voice actor and puppeteer. He was best known for his portrayal of the lazy unemployed character Pak Ogah in Si Unyil, a puppet show that aired on state-owned television TVRI from 1981 to 1993. His character became an icon among Indonesian children, along with other characters from the show. He also dubbed many anime and foreign shows into the Indonesian language, such as Case Closed, Fairy Tail, Pokémon, Keroro Gunso, and Dragon Ball Z Kai. He was known for his versatile and expressive voice, as well as his comedic skills. He continued to play the character in various shows, including Warkop DKI's movie Malu Malu Mau in 1988 and as a guest star in Lorong Waktu 3 in 2002. He also brought the character to various events and visited schools to do storytelling for children. He died on 28 December 2022, at the age of 74, after suffering from several complications from a stroke. Despite the fame he received as Pak Ogah, his family said that he experienced financial hardships and often relied on donations from other people. His earnings were dwindling, and he did several gigs and side jobs as a presenter at kids' birthday parties or other gathering events. He was mourned by his fans and fellow voice actors, who praised his contributions to the Indonesian dubbing industry and his legacy as a voice of many childhood memories.
