Ricky Yacobi

Ricky Yacobi was an Indonesian football player who was known for his touch, consistency, tactical astuteness, and coolness under pressure. He usually played as a striker and was one of the most prominent Indonesian footballers of the 1980s. His nickname was the "Indonesian Paul Breitner". He made a name for himself at the 1986 Asian Games when he led the Indonesia national team to the quarter-finals, where they lost to South Korea by a single goal. He also played for several clubs in Indonesia, such as PSMS Medan, Arseto Solo, and Matsushita FC in Japan. He scored 5 goals in 31 international matches for Indonesia. He was the captain of the national team from 1987 to 1990. He later became a coach and a football pundit. He died of a heart attack while playing football with his friends at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on 21 November 2020. He was 57 years old.
