Crown Prince Sado

Crown Prince Sado was the second son of King Yeongjo of Joseon and the probable future monarch. However, he suffered from a severe mental illness that made him violent and unpredictable. He killed and raped many people in the palace, and also developed a clothing phobia that prevented him from dressing properly. His father, who was disappointed and frustrated by his son's behavior, ordered him to enter a rice chest and die of starvation and dehydration. He was 27 years old when he died. His death was a tragic and controversial event in Korean history, and his wife, Lady Hyegyeong, wrote a memoir that detailed their life together. His son, Yi San, later became King Jeongjo and tried to restore his father's reputation and honor.
