Liu Changchun

Liu Changchun was a Chinese athlete who competed in the men's 100m and 200m events at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, USA. He was the first Chinese athlete to participate in the Olympic Games. He cleared 11 seconds in the 100m qualifying round, but failed to advance to the final. He also failed to qualify for the 200m final. He also set several national records in the sprint events, with his best marks being 10.7 seconds in the 100m and 22.4 seconds in the 200m. He was a member of the Chinese Air Force and served as a pilot during the Second Sino-Japanese War. He was also a physical education teacher and coach at Northeastern University, Beijing Normal University, and Dalian University of Technology. He trained many athletes and students, and was involved in the organization of the Asian Games and the National Games of China. He was honored as a national sports master and a model worker by the Chinese government. He died of natural causes on March 25, 1983, at the age of 73. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of Chinese athletics and a hero of the nation.
