Huang Yingjie

Huang Yingjie was a Chinese athlete who competed in the men's discus throw at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. He was the first Chinese athlete to participate in the Olympic discus throw event. He cleared 41.13 meters in the qualifying round, but failed to advance to the final. He also set several national records in the discus throw, with his best mark being 45.02 meters in 1935. He was a member of the National Revolutionary Army and served as a lieutenant colonel during the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War. He later became a physical education teacher and coach at Northwest University in Xi'an, where he trained many athletes and students. He was also involved in the organization of the Asian Games and the National Games of China. He was honored as a national sports master and a model worker by the Chinese government. He died of natural causes on November 15, 2015, at the age of 103. He was the oldest living Olympian at the time of his death. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of Chinese athletics and a symbol of the Olympic spirit.
