Su Yu chang

Su Yu-chang was a Chinese martial artist, scholar and physician who devoted his life to teaching Kung Fu, traditional Chinese philosophy and medicine all over the world. He was born in Dongshan, Taiwan in 1940 and started learning martial arts at the age of eight. He became a disciple of Liu Yunqiao, a famous master of Baguazhang, Bajiquan, Piguaquan and Tai Chi. He also learned several styles of Praying Mantis from other masters. He was known for his skill in Beng Quan, a powerful punch that is one of the five basic skills of Xingyiquan. He taught many students in Venezuela, Spain, Japan, the US, the Netherlands, Norway and the UK. He founded the Pachi Tanglang Martial Arts Institute, which has branches worldwide. He also influenced many Okinawan martial artists who learned the Sanchin kata from him. The Sanchin kata is a fundamental exercise that trains the body and the breath in Xingyiquan and many Naha-te based styles of Karate. He died in La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of influence on martial arts and culture.
