Rasim Oztekin

Rasim Öztekin was a Turkish actor and comedian who appeared in more than forty films since 1985. He was born in Istanbul, Turkey on 14 January 1959. He graduated from Galatasaray High School and Istanbul University Faculty of Communication. He started his stage career as an amateur in Istanbul Academic Artists Association and Kadıköy Public Education Center and Nöbetçi Theater. He became a professional theater actor in Ferhan Şensoy's Ortaoyuncular troupe. He also worked as a program writer for TRT and a columnist for Akşam newspaper. He was known for his roles in G.O.R.A. (2004), Pardon (2005), For Love and Honor (2007), and Düğün Dernek (2013). He also directed and starred in the musical "2071'de Türkiye" (Turkey in 2071) written by Gani Müjde and Yılmaz Erdoğan in 1994. He received the Kel Hasan Efendi's kavuk (a traditional hat worn by comedians) from Ferhan Şensoy in 2016, and passed it on to Şevket Çoruh in 2020. He was married to Esra Kazancıbaşı and had a daughter named Pelin Öztekin, who is also an actress. He died of a heart attack on 8 March 2021 in Istanbul at the age of 62. He was buried at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery. He was widely respected and loved by his colleagues and fans for his humor and wit.
