Ali Husrev Bozer

Ali Bozer was a Turkish politician and academic of commercial law. He was born in Ankara, Turkey, on July 28, 1925. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1948 and became a professor of commercial law in 1964. He was also a member of the European Commission of Human Rights from 1966 to 1983. He entered politics in 1983 as a member of the Nationalist Democracy Party (MDP), which later merged with the Motherland Party (ANAP). He served as a deputy in the Turkish Grand National Assembly from 1983 to 1991, representing Ankara and Mersin provinces. He was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister in 1989, and briefly served as the Acting Prime Minister in the same year, after Turgut Özal was elected as the President of Turkey. He also served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1990 to 1991, during which he dealt with the Gulf War and the Kurdish issue. He was one of the founders of Oyak-Renault, an automotive company in Turkey, and was the chairman of the board of Oyak-Renault from 1991 to 1995. He was also the father of Ahmet Bozer, the president of Coca-Cola Eurasia Group. He died on September 30, 2020, after contracting COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey. He was laid to rest at Karşıyaka Cemetery in Ankara, Turkey. He is remembered as a man who won the heavyweight title three times, who was humorous and who treated everyone right, who never looked down on those who looked up to him, and who helped as many people as he could. He was also a man who stood up for his beliefs no matter what, and who tried to unite all humankind through faith and love.
