Antonio Livramento

António Livramento was a Portuguese roller hockey player and coach, considered by many as the greatest player of all time. He started his career at Futebol Benfica in 1959, when he was 16 years old, and soon moved to SL Benfica, where he won eight Portuguese championships and one Portuguese Cup. He also played for HC Monza in Italy, Banco Pinto & Sotto Mayor, Sporting CP, where he won the European Cup in 1977, and Amatori Lodi in Italy. He represented the Portuguese national team from 1961 to 1977, winning three World Championships and seven European Championships. He was known for his skill, creativity, and leadership on the rink. He scored 425 goals in 209 international matches. He retired as a player in 1981 and became a coach. He coached Bassano Hockey 54 in Italy, Sporting CP, Porto, and the Portuguese national team, winning three more World Championships and three more European Championships as a coach. He was also a Commander of the Order of Prince Henry. He died in Lisbon in 1999 from a stroke at the age of 56. He is widely regarded as a legend of roller hockey and one of the best Portuguese sportsmen ever.
