About me / Bio:
Gustav Knuth was a German film and theater actor who appeared in more than 120 films between 1935 and 1982. He started his acting career at the Stadttheater Heidelberg in 1918 and later worked at various theaters in Hamburg, Basel, Altona, and Berlin. He was also a member of the Ernannte Bürgerschaft Hamburgs in 1946. He became famous for his roles in films such as Under the Bridges, The Sissi Trilogy, The Beggar Student, and The Mosquito. He also starred in the TV series Alle meine Tiere as Dr. Hofer. He was married to the actress Elisabeth Lennartz and had one son, Klaus Knuth, who also became an actor. He died of heart failure in 1987 at the age of 85. He was buried in Küsnacht, Zürich, Switzerland. He is regarded as one of the most popular and versatile actors of German cinema and TV.
