Ross Higgins

Ross Higgins was an Australian actor, TV host, comedian, singer and voice actor who had a career spanning over 70 years. He was born in Sydney to Polish immigrants and started his career as a radio announcer and singer at the age of 15. He became a popular comedian and entertainer on The Jack Davey Show in the 1950s and represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957. He moved to television in the 1960s and hosted various shows on different networks. He was best known for his role as Ted Bullpitt, a conservative and blustering suburban father, in the sitcom Kingswood Country from 1980 to 1984. He also voiced many characters in commercials and cartoons, most notably Louie the Fly for Mortein, which was the longest running ad campaign in Australian history. He also appeared in other shows such as Motel, Homicide, Number 96, Home and Away, and Bullpitt!. He retired from acting in 2001 and wrote a play called Honey. He died at the age of 85 in Sydney after suffering a heart attack.
