Belinda Emmett

Belinda Emmett was an Australian actress and singer who was born in Gosford, New South Wales, on 12 April 1974. She worked as a radio announcer and singer in a band called Big Baby Jam before landing her first major acting role as Tracy Russell in the sitcom Hey Dad..! in 1994. She then joined the cast of Home and Away in 1995, playing Gail, a fisherman's daughter, and later Rebecca Fisher, the daughter of school headmaster Donald Fisher and wife of Travis Nash. She received two Silver Logie nominations for Most Popular Actress for this role. She left Home and Away in 1999 and joined the medical drama All Saints in 2000, playing Jodi Horner, a nurse with multiple sclerosis. She also appeared in other TV shows such as Water Rats, The Day of the Roses and All Together Now. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and underwent surgery and radiotherapy. She continued to work while battling the disease, but had to leave All Saints in 2001 when the cancer spread to her bones. She married comedian and TV host Rove McManus in 2005 after a long-term relationship. She also pursued a music career, releasing an album called So I Am in 2006. She died of breast cancer on 11 November 2006 at the age of 32.
