About me / Bio:
"Roger Moore was an English actor who became famous for his portrayal of the fictional secret agent James Bond in seven feature films from 1973 to 1985. He was the third actor to play the role, following Sean Connery and George Lazenby. He brought a lighter and more humorous touch to the character, making him more charming and suave than his predecessors. He also played the lead role of Simon Templar in the British TV series The Saint from 1962 to 1969, and co-starred with Tony Curtis in the action-comedy The Persuaders! from 1971 to 1972. He continued to act on screen in the decades after his retirement from the Bond franchise, appearing in films such as The Quest (1996), Spice World (1997), Boat Trip (2002) and The Carer (2016). His final appearance was in a pilot for a new Saint series that became a 2017 television film. Moore was also known for his humanitarian work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 1991. He was involved in campaigns to raise awareness and funds for children’s rights, health and education around the world. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 for his services to charity and received many other honors and awards for his contributions to the film industry and society. Moore was married four times and had three children with his third wife, Luisa Mattioli. He also had a stepdaughter, Christina Knudsen, with his fourth wife, Kristina Tholstrup, who died of cancer in 2016. Moore himself died of liver cancer in 2017 at his home in Switzerland, surrounded by his family."
