About me / Bio:
Robin Gibb was born on December 22, 1949 in Douglas, Isle of Man, UK, as the fraternal twin of Maurice Gibb and the younger brother of Barry Gibb. He also had a younger brother, Andy Gibb, who was also a singer. He began his musical career as part of the family trio The Rattlesnakes, which later became the Bee Gees in 1958. The group moved to Australia in 1958 and returned to England in 1967, where they achieved worldwide fame with their distinctive harmonies and catchy pop songs. Robin Gibb was known for his high-pitched vibrato voice and his expressive songwriting. He sang lead vocals on many Bee Gees hits, such as I Started a Joke, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Massachusetts, Night Fever and Tragedy. He also wrote or co-wrote most of the group's songs, including Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Jive Talkin' and You Win Again. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his brothers. Robin Gibb also had a successful solo career, releasing several albums and singles, such as Saved by the Bell, Juliet, Boys Do Fall in Love and Please. He collaborated with other artists such as Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers and Alistair Griffin. He also composed classical music, such as The Titanic Requiem with his son Robin-John. Robin Gibb was married twice and had four children from different relationships. He was also involved in various charitable causes and humanitarian projects, such as the Heritage Foundation, the Bomber Command Memorial and the Outward Bound Trust. He was appointed as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2002 for his services to music and entertainment. Robin Gibb died on May 20, 2012 at the age of 62 from colorectal cancer. He was buried at St Mary's Churchyard in Thame, Oxfordshire, England. He was widely mourned as a musical legend and a generous soul.
