Queen Alexandrina Victoria, also known as Queen Victoria, was a British monarch who reigned from 1837 until her death in 1901. She was born on May 24, 1819, in Kensington Palace, London, England. Queen Victoria is best known for being the longest-reigning monarch in British history, a period known as the Victorian era. During her reign, the British Empire expanded and underwent significant social, political, and industrial changes. Queen Victoria married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and had nine children. After Prince Albert's death in 1861, Queen Victoria entered a period of mourning and largely withdrew from public life. She passed away on January 22, 1901, and was laid to rest in the Frogmore Mausoleum, Windsor, England. Queen Victoria's reign and legacy continue to have a lasting impact on British history and culture.
