Payut Ngaokrachang was a pioneering Thai cartoonist and animator, known for creating Thailand's first cel-animated feature film, The Adventure of Sudsakorn. Born on April 1, 1929, in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand, Payut had a passion for nang drama (shadow-puppet plays) and early American cartoons like Felix the Cat. His career began with painting backgrounds for play sets and working as a block printer. Payut's first animated short, Miracle Happens, premiered in 1955 and caught the attention of the US Embassy in Bangkok, leading to a long tenure with the United States Information Service. He also collaborated with Toei Animation and made significant contributions to Thai cinema and animation education before his passing on May 27, 2010, in Bangkok.
