About me / Bio:
Lekë Dukagjini was a 15th-century Albanian nobleman and leader of the League of Lezhë, a confederation of Albanian principalities that resisted the Ottoman invasion. He was a contemporary and ally of Skanderbeg, the national hero of Albania. He is also known for the Kanun of Lekë Dukagjini, a collection of customary laws that governed the social and moral norms of the northern Albanian tribes. He was born in Lipjan, Kosovo, and inherited the principality of Dukagjini from his father. He fought against the Ottomans, the Venetians, and the rival Albanian pashas. He was killed by Ottoman forces at the Battle of Oranik in 1481. His legacy is celebrated in Albanian folklore and literature.
