Gegë Marubi was an Albanian photographer and son of Kel Marubi, who was born in Shkodër in 1907. He studied photography in the Lumière brothers' school in France, and graduated in 1932. He returned to Albania and worked in his father's studio, which was the first photographic studio in Albania. He participated in the anti-fascist resistance during World War II, and exhibited his works nationally and internationally. He donated his photographic collection of 150,000 negatives to the Albanian state in 1974, and worked for their preservation until his death in 1984. He is regarded as one of the most prominent Balkan photographers of his generation.
