Zaki al-Khatib

Zaki al-Khatib was a Syrian politician from the People's Party who served as Prime Minister of Syria from 1954 to 1955. He was also a prominent lawyer and a founding member of the Al-Nahda Arab Society, a cultural and literary association that aimed to revive Arab nationalism and heritage. He was involved in several political movements and coalitions that opposed French colonialism and advocated for Syrian independence and unity. He held various ministerial positions, such as Minister of Justice, Minister of Interior, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was known for his moderate and pragmatic approach to politics, as well as his support for democracy and civil rights. He died in 1961 at the age of 74.
