Raziq Faani

Raziq Faani was a renowned Afghan poet and novelist, celebrated for his mystical, compassionate, and patriotic works. His poetry reflects the suffering of the Afghan people through decades of war, destruction, and exile. Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Faani's literary journey began with his first book of poetry, "Armaghan-e Jawani," published in 1966. He earned a master's degree in political economy from Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1967. Faani's novels and poetry volumes, written in Persian, include "Baaraana," "Payamber e Baraan," "Aber O Aaftaab," "Shikast e Shab," and "Dasht Aweena wa Tasweer." After leaving Afghanistan in 1988, he settled in San Diego, California, where he continued to write and publish until his death from cancer in 2007.
