Detty Kurnia was an Indonesian singer and composer who specialized in Sundanese music, a traditional genre from West Java. She was born in Bandung in 1960, and started singing at a young age. She released her first album when she was 11 years old. She collaborated with several musicians, such as Makoto Kubota, a Japanese producer who helped her release her albums Rayungan and Dari Sunda in Japan. She also participated in the Women of the World series in 1995, under the Riverboat label. She was known for her distinctive voice and her romantic songs, such as Duriat Pegat, Kembang Lamunan, and Mawar Bodas. She also appeared in several films, such as Ambisi, Laila Majenun, and Badai Pasti Berlalu. She was married to Yana Kermit, a Sundanese musician and composer, and had two children. She died of cancer in 2010, at the age of 49.
