Surinder Shinda

Surinder Shinda was a legendary Punjabi singer and composer who was known for his folk and bhangra songs. He started his career in 1978 and released close to 165 music albums. He was also an actor and appeared in several Punjabi films. He was considered a "grandfather of MOC" and a pioneer of the Punjabi music industry. He sang many hit songs such as "Jatt Jeona Morh", "Putt Jattan De", "Truck Billiya", "Balbiro Bhabhi" and "Kaher Singh Di Mout". He collaborated with many famous singers and composers such as Kuldeep Manak, Amar Singh Chamkila, Charanjit Ahuja, and Sukshinder Shinda. He also sang many songs of Kazi Nazrul Islam, the national poet of Bangladesh. He received many awards and honors for his contribution to Punjabi music, such as the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 Brit Asia TV Music Awards, the Shiromani Gayak Award from the Punjab Government, and the Punjab Gaurav Rattan title from Kala Parishad. He passed away on 26 July 2023 due to multi-organ failure at the age of 64. He was mourned by his fans and the music fraternity.
