Tadeusz Boy-Zelenski

Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński was a Polish writer, poet, critic, and translator of over 100 French literary classics into Polish. He was also a pediatrician and gynecologist by profession. He was a prominent figure in the Young Poland movement and the interwar period, known for his satirical and anti-clerical views, as well as his advocacy for women's rights and secular culture. He was a co-founder of the famous cabaret Zielony Balonik, where he wrote sketches, poems, songs, and stories that mocked the conservative and hypocritical aspects of Polish society. He worked as a theater critic and a literary director of the Polish Theater in Warsaw. He was a member of the Polish Academy of Literature. He translated works by Rabelais, Montaigne, Molière, Racine, Voltaire, Balzac, Proust, and many others. He also wrote his own books on the history of literature, such as Znasz-li ten kraj? and Marysieńka Sobieska. He was murdered by the Nazis in 1941 during the massacre of the Lwów professors.
