Caroline Kellermann

Caroline Kellermann was one of the leading ballerinas of the Royal Danish Theatre in the 19th century. She was trained by August Bournonville, the famous choreographer and ballet master, who created many roles for her in his ballets. She was especially praised for her expressive mime and her classical technique. She danced in many of Bournonville's works, such as Napoli, Valdemar, Faust, The Conservatory, and La Camargo. She also performed in Stockholm, Trondheim, and Christiania, where she was well received by the audiences and the critics. She retired from the stage in 1861 and lived a quiet life until her death in 1881. She was married to the cellist Christian Kellermann, who died in 1866. She had no children. She was buried in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen.
