About me / Bio:
Sergey Nagovitsyn was a Russian singer, composer and author of Russian chanson style songs. He was born on July 22, 1968 in Zakamsk, a town in the Perm region. He was inspired by the music of Alexander Rozenbaum since his childhood. He started playing the guitar in 1985 and wrote his first songs. After serving in the army, he worked at the Dneprostal factory in Perm, where he joined an amateur rock band. In 1992, he signed a contract with the Moscow producing center Russian Show and recorded his first official album, Town Meeting, in 1994. The album featured one of his most popular songs, "She Said My Mother". Nagovitsyn often sang about the life of criminals, prisoners, and outcasts, using the slang and symbolism of the Russian underworld. He also wrote love songs and songs about his native land. Some of his other hits include "Without Prostitutes and Thieves", "Stage", "Sizyi", "Prokhor Mitrich", "Lost Territory", "The Ozone Layer", "City Meeting", "Naughty Girl", "Will", "There's Elkah", "The Girl Next Door", "Sentence", "Kabak-Kabatsky Smoke", and "Dori-Dori". Nagovitsyn collaborated with other Siberian underground artists, such as Yanka Dyagileva and Egor Letov, as a record engineer and producer. He died on December 21, 1999, on the way to Kurgan for a concert, from cardiac arrest. He was buried in Perm.
