About me / Bio:
Lavr Kornilov was a prominent Russian field marshal who served in the Crimean War and the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878). He led the spearhead of the Russian invasion of Bulgaria, captured several strategic passes and cities, and defeated the Turkish army in several battles. He was also a governor of St. Petersburg and a governor-general of Poland, where he enforced the Russification policies of Alexander III. He was known for his bravery, intelligence, and loyalty to the tsar. He died in 1918 at the age of 47, while fighting against the Bolsheviks in the Russian Civil War.
