Halit Akcatepe

Halit Akçatepe was a Turkish actor who appeared in more than 100 films and television series. He was born in Üsküdar, Istanbul, in 1938, the son of actors Sıtkı Akçatepe and Leman Akçatepe. He was also the great-grandson of Ottoman Grand Vizier Nevşehirli Damat Ibrahim Pasha. He made his debut in the film Dertli Pınar at the age of 5 and continued to act in child roles. He graduated from Saint Benoit French High School and served in the army for 1.5 years. He became famous for his roles in Ah Nerede Vah Nerede (1960), Yasak (1963), Gündoğarken (1963), and Semaya Baktım Seni Gördüm (1963). He achieved his greatest success with the Hababam Sınıfı series, in which he played the character of Güdük Necmi, a mischievous and rebellious student. He also acted in other comedy films, such as Tatlı Dillim (1972), Şabanoğlu Şaban (1977), and Çöpçüler Kralı (1977). He won the Golden Orange Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Bandit (1966). He was married twice and had three daughters. He died of a heart attack in Istanbul in 2017, at the age of 79. He was buried at Karacaahmet Cemetery. He is remembered as one of the most popular and beloved actors of Turkish cinema.
