Ho Ying-chin

Ho Ying-chin was a Chinese general and politician who served as the premier of the Republic of China in 1949. He was a graduate of the Baoding Military Academy and the Imperial Japanese Army Academy. He was a close associate of Chiang Kai-shek, the leader of the Kuomintang ("Chinese Nationalist Party"), and held various positions in the Nationalist Government, such as the minister of national defense, the chief of staff, and the commander-in-chief. He was elected as the premier by the National Assembly in 1949, but resigned shortly after due to the political turmoil caused by the Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War. He left China in 1949 and lived in Taiwan until his death in 1987. He was known for his military skills, his loyalty, and his moderate views. He was involved in several important battles, such as the Northern Expedition, the Shanghai War, the Battle of Wuhan, and the Battle of Xuzhou. He also played a key role in negotiating the Second United Front, the Sian Incident, and the Chongqing Negotiations. He was regarded as one of the most influential and respected figures in modern Chinese history.
