About me / Bio:
Irrfan Khan was one of the most versatile and respected actors in Indian cinema, as well as in Hollywood and British films. He started his career with a small role in Salaam Bombay! (1988) and then appeared in various television shows and films, mostly in supporting roles. He gained recognition and acclaim for his performances in Haasil (2003) and Maqbool (2004), both directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. He then starred in critically acclaimed films such as The Namesake (2006), Life in a... Metro (2007), The Lunchbox (2013), Piku (2015), and Talvar (2015). He also played significant roles in international films such as The Warrior (2001), The Darjeeling Limited (2007), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), Life of Pi (2012), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), Jurassic World (2015), and Inferno (2016). He was known for his nuanced and subtle portrayals of complex characters, often with a touch of humor. He won several awards for his acting, including a National Film Award, an Asian Film Award, and six Filmfare Awards. He was also honored with the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in 2011. In 2018, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor, a rare form of cancer. He underwent treatment in London and returned to India in 2019. He completed the shooting of his last film, Angrezi Medium, which was released in March 2020. He died on 29 April 2020 at the age of 53, due to a colon infection. He was widely mourned by his fans, colleagues, and the film industry. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
