Ramesh Deo

Ramesh Deo was an Indian actor, who is known for playing a diverse range of roles in Marathi and Hindi films. He was born on 30 January 1929 in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. His father was a judge and his ancestral roots were from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He made his film debut with a cameo appearance in Paatlaachi Por, a Marathi film, in 1951. He then acted in more than 350 movies, mostly in supporting roles. He also produced feature films, television serials and over 250 ad films. He directed a number of films, documentaries and television serials. He received many state and national awards for his works. He was married to Seema Deo, an actress formerly known as Nalini Saraf. They co-starred in almost 75 Marathi and Hindi films, mostly as husband and wife or lovers. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2013. They had two sons, Ajinkya Deo, a Marathi actor, and Abhinay Deo, a director of the 2011 film Delhi Belly. Ramesh Deo died of a heart attack on 2 February 2022 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He was 93 years old. He was cremated at the Vile Parle cremation ground near Pawan Hans terminal. He was remembered by his fans and colleagues as a versatile and humble actor who left behind a great legacy.
