Brad Drewett

Brad Drewett was born on 19 July 1958 in Maclean, New South Wales, Australia. He started playing tennis at a young age and won the Australian Open boys' singles title in 1975 and 1977. He turned professional in 1977 and reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 34 in March 1984. He won two singles titles (Cairo 1982 and South Orange 1983) and seven doubles titles during his career. He also represented Australia in the Davis Cup from 1981 to 1985. He retired from playing in 1990 and joined the ATP as an administrator. He held various positions within the organization, including director of international group, CEO of the ATP International Group, president of ATP Properties, and executive chairman of the ATP World Tour. He was instrumental in increasing the prize money for players at Grand Slam tournaments and developing the sport in the Asia-Pacific region, especially China. He was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in January 2013 and announced his intention to step down from his role as executive chairman. He died on 3 May 2013 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He was survived by his wife Joanne and their four sons Jack, Ally, Joe and Tom. He was widely respected and admired by his colleagues, players, fans and media for his leadership, integrity, professionalism and passion for tennis¹².
