About me / Bio:
Pacorus II of Parthia (father) Parthamasiris was one of the three sons of Pacorus II of Parthia, the king of the Arsacid Empire. He was a member of the House of Parthia and a relative of the Arsacid dynasty of Armenia. Little is known about his life before he became the king of Armenia in 113 CE. His uncle Osroes I of Parthia had deposed his brother Axidares from the Armenian throne and installed Parthamasiris as a Roman client king to avoid war with the emperor Trajan and keep peace with him. However, Trajan did not accept this arrangement and invaded Armenia in 114 CE. He received Parthamasiris and listened to his request to keep his kingship, but he rejected it and annexed Armenia as a Roman province. He sent Parthamasiris back to Parthia and continued his military campaign against the Parthians. On his way home, Parthamasiris disappeared and some historians have speculated that Trajan may have ordered his murder.
